Register for Fall Softball League
It’s that time of year again to see who gets the bragging rights of the best softball team in Sahuarita.
Teams from all over Southern Arizona come to Sahuarita to compete in our league. Teams that we would like to recognize from last year’s fall season are: Men’s League: J & E Phuckit, Tuesday Co-Ed League: Monsoon’s, and Wednesday Co-Ed League: Desert Swinger’s. The Town of Sahuarita Park and Recreation Department is very excited for its upcoming softball season which begins August 9, 2010. This year the town is expanding from three nights to four nights of games per week. Every year the level of play has increased due the increase of teams outside of Sahuarita entering our leagues, thus, changing the direction of our league from recreational to competitive.
The deadline to register a team for either the Men’s League or the Co-ed League is July 23; the fee is $300 per team. ASA rules apply. Register in person at Anamax Park, 17501 S. Camino de las Quintas, or go to the Parks and Recreation area of the site.
This year the Town changed the format of its leagues, from teams playing a single night a week among six teams to twice a week among twelve teams. These changes will increase the level of competition because each team will only play each other once throughout season, compared to previous seasons when each team played each other twice throughout the duration of the season. Teams will have to bring their best game each night to be victorious at the end of the season. Games will be played Monday through Thursday at 6:30 p.m., 7:35 p.m., and 8:40 p.m. So come out and join the Town in support of your local teams. May the best team win!
