Green Valley-Sahuarita Ride of Silence is May 16, 2012

The purpose of this slow-paced, seven-mile ride is to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured; raise awareness to the existence of bicyclists; and to ask that we all share the road.   Bikers of all skill levels and interests in the Santa Cruz Valley area are invited to participate in this international observance.

The ride begins at the Green Valley Recreation East Social Center parking lot (Abrego/Esperanza intersection). Come early and enjoy some light refreshments at 5:30 p.m., and be prepared to leave for the group ride at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16. The group will follow the guidelines of the Ride of Silence which include riding single file in silence (no talking) and riding at a slow and comfortable pace. Helmets are required for riders. Escort for the ride will be provided by the Pima County Sheriff Department and the Green Valley Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers (SAV).
