Anamax Bark Park to be temporarily closed beginning May 28, 2013

Local dog owners continue to flock to the Anamax Bark Park, the Town of Sahuarita’s first of two dog parks.  The Town Parks & Recreation staff continues to work diligently keeping the Anamax Bark Park in excellent condition, but heavy use continues to make upkeep and maintenance challenging due to wear and tear on the turf and fixtures, as well as the problems that dog urine poses for turf.

The most appropriate time for closure is during the late spring/early summer growing season so dog owners should note the following closures:  Anamax Bark Park will be closed beginning Tuesday May 28, 2013 and will reopen on or before Friday July 5, 2013 for the regeneration of turf and scheduled maintenance of the dog park facility for approximately 6 weeks. Other areas of Anamax Park will not be affected during this period.  Please note that dogs are not allowed on the ball fields at any time.

The Town’s second and newest Dog Park, located in Quail Creek-Veterans Municipal Park at 1905 N. Nogales Highway will remain open during this closure. Dog owners are encouraged to bring their pets to this location while the turf in the Anamax Bark Park is regenerating. The Town of Sahuarita Parks & Recreation Department thanks dog owners for their patience and tremendous support of the facility.  For more information, please contact the Parks & Recreation staff at the Anamax Recreation Center (520) 445-7850 or Town Hall (520) 822-8896.

Anamax Park’s newest sports fields #4 football and #5 soccer will be closed for public use beginning May 23, 2013 for up to 12 weeks to improve the turf conditions due to excessive and consistent use year round.  The fields will reopen to public use on or before August 30th.

Additional football/soccer fields will be available at North Santa Cruz Park.

The Town of Sahuarita Parks & Recreation Department thanks all sports field users for their patience and understanding.  For more information, please contact Parks & Recreation.

Proposed Changes to Home Business Regulations

Shop Locally to Support YOUR Sahuarita

Save time. Save money on gas.
What more do you need than these two great reasons to shop locally here in Sahuarita?

Here’s another one: shopping locally supports local services! That’s right, local sales tax supports Sahuarita streets, sidewalks, park programs, the police department, and many other services. Local businesses collect sales tax, and a precentage of that tax stays here in the Town of Sahuarita.  When you shop in Tucson, your sales tax funds City of Tucson projects and programs, instead of our own.  Also, more people shopping more frequently here helps our local businesses succeed.  And that success helps attract even more retail and service businesses, something we all want.

Need ideas on where to shop?

Check our Business Resource Directory which has a listing of all retail and service businesses by category.

Here’s a link to all the Sahuarita shopping centers with businesses listed for efficient shopping.

Next time you need to shop, don’t head for the interstate—head for great shopping centers on Nogales Highway, Duval Mine Road, and Sahuarita Road.  Save time by shopping in your own backyard.  And remember, by doing so, you’re investing in your own community!
